In his 2016-17 budget, chief minister Siddaramaiah had allocated a whopping Rs. 10,000 crore for BBMP against Rs. 4,770 crore last year. Additionally, the state budget had granted a special package of Rs. 5000 crore for Bengaluru. And now, Rs. 7,300 crore worth projects have been announced for the city!

As part of the Nagarothana plan, the Karnataka government aims to invest into road infrastructure development, constructing underground drainages, storm water drains and development of footpaths.

This is most certainly the biggest amount that has come Bengaluru’s way, and the citizens are elated. “Of the total Rs. 7,300 crore, the finance department has already agreed to release Rs. 6,050 crore,” law minister T B Jayachandra said.

This is, perhaps, the first time that such a huge amount is being injected into Bengaluru’s development. So in the coming days we can expect better infrastructure and smarter technology. Way to go Bengaluru!
